This song, sang by Yannick Noah, is an hymn to nature and respect. Its message is deep and "strong". I translated the words in English Unfortunately, I couldn't find any translation, so I tried my best to do it myself.
The title is a play of word : A sentence in the French anthem is "Aux armes citoyens", which means : "citizens, to arms !" (linked to the French Revolution). And the title is "Aux arbres citoyens", which means : "citizens, to trees !". You can notice the words "arme" and "arbre" are very similar in French. This explains the play of words. It's like if this song was proposed as a new anthem.
(lyrics in French and English below)
Le ciment dans les plaines
Coule jusqu'aux montagnes
Poison dans les fontaines,
Dans nos campagnes
De cyclones en rafales
Notre histoire prend l'eau
Reste notre idéal
"Faire les beaux"
S'acheter de l'air en barre
Remplir la balance :
Quelques pétrodollars
Contre l'existence
De l'équateur aux pôles,
Ce poids sur nos épaules
De squatters éphémères...
Maintenant c'est plus drôle
Puisqu'il faut changer les choses
Aux arbres citoyens !
Il est grand temps qu'on propose
Un monde pour demain !
Aux arbres citoyens
Quelques baffes à prendre
La veille est pour demain
Des baffes à rendre
Faire tenir debout

Cement in plains
Flow just near mountains
Poison in fountains
In our countrysides
Cyclons and storms
Our history is sinking
Just an ideal remain : “be proud and save appearances”
Buy some tinned oxygen
To fill up the scales
Some oil-dollars
Versus Life
From Equator to Poles
This weight on our shoulders
Some ephemeral squatters
It’s not funny anymore
As things have to change
Citizens, to trees !
It’s now time to propose
Another world for tomorrow
As things have to change
Citizens, to trees !
It’s now time to propose
Another world for tomorrow
Citizens, to trees
Some slaps to undergo
The day before is for tomorrow
Some slaps to give back
Make some reeds army to stand up
Nobody has to kneel down anymore
Everybody as to know this
It’s true : Earth is round
But who will say it’s round for everybody ?
And for the others to come...
As things have to change
Citizens, to trees !
It’s now time to propose
Another world for tomorrow
We don't have time to find out who's fault it is
To count luck or the others
Now that we are fighting
With you, me, I trust
As things have to change
Citizens, to trees !
It’s now time to oppose
For another world for tomorrow
