Allé, je me décide à blogguer de la salle informatique de l’université.
Après deux ans d’université à Grenoble, et un an en Angleterre, me voilà partie pour une nouvelle destination : Avignon. Et j’en suis contente, car autant joindre l’utile à l’agréable, c'est-à-dire faire ses études tout en découvrant de nouveaux endroits, et tout en jouant les touristes ! J’ai vécu toute ma vie dans la région Grenobloise, et j’ai besoin depuis quelque temps de changer d’air. Et puis, de toute façon, aucun Master ne m’intéressait sur Grenoble (ça m’a bien arrangée d’ailleurs…). ;) En France, deux voies d’études m’intéressaient : une à Tours, et une autre à Avignon… Alors moi qui aime le Sud, je n’ai pas hésité longtemps entre les deux ! Et me voilà ici, à Avignon.
Alors que j’ai eu très froid la première nuit que j’ai passée à Oxford (dans la valise, pas de place pour une couverture !), ici j’ai eu très chaud ! J’ai donc dormi la fenêtre ouverte : du coup, j’ai passé la nuit à chasser les moustiques, ce qui ne les a d’ailleurs pas dissuadés de me piquer ! D’ailleurs, ils se sont abonnés chez moi je crois, car ils reviennent chaque nuit… Mon sens de l’accueil a parfois des limites !
Pour continuer sur le thème des insectes, j’entends quelquefois des cigales, c’est sympa ! Du coup, je vais en cours avec les lunettes de soleil sur le nez et des nus-pieds, hem hem… Il ne faut pas que j’oublie que je suis venue ici pour travailler…
La ville est peut-être étendue (je n’en sais encore rien), mais le centre, autrement dit la partie intra-muros, n’est pas très grand. Tout ce centre est entouré de remparts, d’où son appellation « intra-muros ». Et c’est très sympathique : les quartiers sont animés, il y a de beaux monuments (le Palais des Papes, par exemple), et la ville m’a l’air dynamique culturellement. Donc le cadre me plaît bien. C’est déjà ça. ;)
Je commence donc ici une première année de Master, et à première vue je sens que cette année je ne vais pas chômer ! Je sens qu’il va falloir s’accrocher ! Enfin, ne partons surtout pas défaitistes ! J’ai également l’impression que certains profs se complaisent dans la description compliquée de choses qui ne sont pas si difficiles. Exemple : voici les consignes que l’on a reçues pour la rédaction de notre premier rapport : « Présentation de la problématique identifiée et démonstration de son bien-fondé sur la base de la présentation de la méthodologie suivie dans l’analyse et d’une synthèse argumentée de ses principaux résultats. Cela suppose notamment, quand nécessaire, une présentation synthétique et opérationnelle des données ». Euh, oui bien sûr… J’ai quand même dû relire trois fois avant de comprendre. Peut-être que je suis bouchée, mais quand même ils pourraient tourner les choses autrement, et ce serait plus clair, à mon sens. Bon bon bon bon bon. Advienne que pourra.
After two years studying in one of Grenoble’s university, and one year studying in England, now I’m going to a new place again : Avignon. And I’m happy about that, because it’s better to mix business with pleasure, which is to study, and at the same time to discover new places and to be “a tourist” ! I’ve spent all my life living in the area of Grenoble, and for some time now I need a change of scene, and why not, a change of life. Anyway, I was not interested in the studies they proposed in Grenoble (that I wasn’t suited me, in a way). ;) In France, I was interested by two diplomas :one in Tour, and one in Avignon. As I like South, I did not hesitated for a long time ! And here I am, in Avignon. .
Although I was feeling very cold during my first night in Oxford (no space in the luggage to bring a blanket !), here I was feeling too warm. Therefore I slept the window opened, and the mosquitos thought it was an invitation for them. And they seem to think they are invited each night ! My welcoming sense has some limits, however !
To continue on the insects’theme, I love listening to the cicadas, I’m not used to that in Grenoble ! And I’m going to the lessons with sunglasses and flip-flops ! Hem hem… I don’t have to forget that I’m supposed to be here to work...
The city is maybe wide (in fact, I don’t really know yet), but the centre, which is the part called “intra-muros” (because of the ramparts all around the city centre), is not very big. Nevetheless it is very nice. It’s animated, there are some beautiful monuments (for example the Palace of the Popes), and theatre, music and many other sorts of arts are very present. So,cool, I like the surroudings.Good point.
I begin here my university’s fourth year, and at first sight I think I’ll have to work hard ! And I’ll have to try hard ! But I don’t want to be defeatist. I also have the feeling that some teachers are delighting in explaining not so difficult thing in a complicated way. As an example, this is the explanation of what we have to do in our first report (I try to translate from French to make it like the original). “Identified problem’s presentation and demonstration of its adequacy on the basis of the presentation of the methodology used in the analysis and of a reason-why synthesis of its main results. This notably implies, if necessary, a synthetic and operational presentation of the data”. Yes yes, of course... I had to read this sentence three times in French to understand it. Maybe I’m slow to understand, but I also believe they could be more clear in the way they explain. Ok ok ok ok ok. Come what may.
